Murakami, ranked No. 2 in the state in Div. I, won the junior girls' race at the Seaside Invitational on Friday in Ventura. Her time of 17:18 on the three-mile course was the best girls' time and sixth on the meet's all-time list. Quartz Hill's Brieanna Morris finished second in 17:47. It was a measure of revenge for Murakami, who by her own admission lost to Morris "when it really mattered," in last year's Southern Section Div. I final.
