Laperriere helps Avalanche to 6th straight win

Former King Ian Laperriere's goal with 3:36 left capped the Avalanche's comeback and gave Colorado its sixth straight victory. Brad Richardson passed to Laperriere in front of the net and he beat Cristobal Huet to the stick side to break a 1-1 tie.

Mike Knuble scored on a deflection with 8:33 left, snapping a tie and lifting the Flyers, 9-1-1 in their last 11 games. Philadelphia played the 10th game of a team-record 11-game road trip on Wednesday. The Flyers are 8-1-1 on the swing.

Marian Hossa scored the only goal in a shootout to lift the Thrashers to victory. It was Atlanta's first shootout win in five tries. The Predators fell to 4-2 in the NHL's new tiebreaker. Tomas Vokoun shut out the Thrashers through two periods, stopping 23 shots.

Pittsburgh 1

Jaroslav Balastik scored twice, Sergei Fedorov and Rick Nash each had a goal and two assists and the Blue Jackets sent the Penguins to their fourth consecutive loss. Nash scored 10 seconds into the game, a team record for fastest goal at the start of the game.
