The Miller boys basketball team overcame a 13-point halftime deficit to defeat Granite Hills 71-69 in the first round of the Serrano Tournament.
Michael Cardenas hit six 3-pointers to lead the Rebels (0-1), who will play Riverside North today at 6 p.m., with 28 points while Dominique Anthony added 14 points and 11 rebounds. The Cougars fell to 0-1.

Cajon 65, Riverside Norte Vista 20
Byron Wesley had 17 points and eight rebounds and Jamari Simmons added 15 points and four steals for the Cowboys (1-0), who will play in the second round tomorrow. Cajon held Norte Vista (0-1) scoreless in the first period, staking itself to a 23-0 lead.
Etiwanda 87, Van Nuys 33
Perris Blackwell scored 19 points, Jordan Finn added 17 and DeRonn Scott dished out eight assists as the Eagles (1-0) won a first-round game at Pasadena High School. Etiwanda plays La Verne Lutheran on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the second round.
Montclair 79, Pomona 55
Tory Gilroy and David Castaneda scored 13 points apiece to lead a balanced scoring attack as the Cavaliers (1-0) won the season-opener. Gilroy had five assists, and Devante Ross had 11 points and four steals. Pascual Valdez had five blocks for Montclair.
Los Osos 64, Lake Forest El Toro 55
Kendall Williams scored 33 points and Chinedu Amjoyi had nine points and seven rebounds for the Grizzlies (1-0), who avenged a 74-29 loss to El Toro (0-1) in their season opener a year ago.

Cajon 63, Los Angeles Pacific Hills 35
The Cowgirls (2-0) advanced to the semifinals, which will be played on Friday, with a fairly routine victory over Pacific Hills (1-1). Senior guard Layshia Clarendon had 20 points, eight assists and seven rebounds while senior center Darshae Burnside added 14 points, 17 rebounds, six blocked shots and five steals.
Joanna Miller had 12 points to lead Pacific Hills.
CHINO COWGIRLS TOURNAMENT
Chino 53, Ontario 32
Kellie Moore scored 14 points and Andrea Yanez added 11 for the Cowgirls (1-0) in their first-round victory. Chino, which plays Rialto in the second round at 7 p.m. Thursday, also got seven points and seven rebounds from Kourtney Gilbert.
Rosalyn Barnes scored nine to lead the Jaguars (0-1) while Cassandra Roldan scored eight points, all from the free-throw line.
NOTRE DAME TOURNAMENT
Riverside Arlington 65, San Gorgonio 30
Jasmine Johnson-McKeown scored 13 points in a losing effort for the Spartans (0-2) in the consolation bracket. Kayla Rogers scored five as well against the Lions (1-1).
San G will continue its tournament play Thursday against an opponent to be determined.
St. Lucy's 67, Anaheim Western 24
Kristen Trudo had 21 points, six assists and four steals, and Tina Minjares added 13 points and eight assists to lead the Regents (1-0) to a rout of the host Pioneers. Sam Ourique added 11 points and five steals for St. Lucy's, which held Western scoreless in the second and fourth quarters. St. Lucy's plays at Fullerton Rosary next Tuesday.
Alta Loma 2, Damien 1
Larry Llamas scored the game-winning goal with three minutes left to lift the Braves (2-0) to their second win. Llamas also assisted on Alta Loma's first goal, a first-half tally by Raad Alhawi.
The Spartans (1-1) got their goal on a first-half score by Anthony Arellano.
Montebello Cantwell-Sacred Heart 2, Pomona Catholic 0
Lissette Caceras and Celiz Aguilar scored to lead the Cardinals past the Pacers in a season opener for both teams. Cynthia Garcia made three saves for Pomona Catholic, which plays in the Western Christian Tournament on Friday.
St. Lucy's 5, Rancho Cucamonga 2
Denni Jo Berger had a goal and an assist to led St. Lucy's (1-0), which got goals from five players. Kaitlyn Curley, Cassie Holloway, Lynsay Browne, Victoria Camaj also scored for the Regents.
Nancy Brich and Robin Nitz scored goals for the Cougars (0-1), who play Rialto on Tuesday.

Madeline Ramos and Maria Navarro each scored in the first half to lead the visiting Jaguars (1-0) to a season-opening victory. Malika Houston had four goals to stave off the Giants (0-1).
Montclair 4, Pomona 0
Yessenia Ortega had a goal and an assist and Vanessa Machado, Stephanie Zamudio and Shannen Martinez also scored to lead the Cavaliers (1-1) to a rout at home of the Red Devils. Montclair plays in the Western Christian Tournament on Friday.

Tiffany Pena and Jessica Cortez scored two goals apiece and Francesca Escobedo added three assists as the Cats defeated the host Rebels in a season-opener for both schools.
Upland 6, Redlands 1
Stephanie Carr notched a hat trick for the visiting Highlanders (1-0) in their season-opening victory. Kacie Licata had a goal and an assist as well for Upland, while Dana Sanderlin had two assists.
Addison Carroll scored a goal for the Terriers (0-1).
