USC tailback Stafon Johnson, discharged from the hospital Wednesday, attended a team meeting at Heritage Hall on Thursday morning in his first appearance since he crushed his larynx in a weightlifting accident Sept. 28.
Johnson received high-fives from teammates amid enthusiastic applause.
"Stafon made a surprise visit that was really fun and a good uplift," coach Pete Carroll said. "He wants to win (the game)."
Also, another USC tailback, Marc Tyler, said he will find out next week if he needs season-ending surgery on a fractured bone in his toe.
Tyler suffered the injury during the season opener against San Jose State, when he gained 72 yards in five carries, including a 63-yard run.
"It's healing but most likely it would be better with surgery," Tyler said. "I'll find out Wednesday."
